Your local family Medical Centre

86 Oreil Ave, West Harbour

West Harbour Medical Centre was started by Doctor Philip Haggo in 1987. West Harbour Medical Centre is a CORNERSTONE accredited practice and has won numerous awards year after year for meeting numerous health targets set by the Ministry of Health thanks to Dr Haggo’s hard work in looking after the community. The new management and doctors look forward to continuing looking after you and your family.

CORNERSTONE is an accreditation programme specifically designed by the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners for general practices in New Zealand that assess the level of performance in relation to established standards and to implement ways to continuously improve the health care system.

CORNERSTONE is a combined quality improvement and quality assurance process which allows a practice to measure themselves against a defined set of standards titled Aiming for Excellence – standard for New Zealand general practice.

Aiming for Excellence contains a range of indicators and criteria that describe minimum legal and safety standards and covers other significant areas of risk, as defined by the College. CORNERSTONE assessors are peers who undertake an external assessment of the general practice.

If you have travelled anywhere overseas in the last month and have had OR now have any sinus, cold or flu symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath, cough, loss of smell or a sore throat please call the dedicated Coronavirus line 0800 358 5453 first and advise reception by phone before walking in to the clinic.

If you have any of the above symptoms regardless, please advise reception by phone BEFORE entering and you will be given a free face mask through the front window to wear before you come into the clinic.

During the Red Alert Level, our doctors will triage each patient as they arrive and decide whether they would be seen in person or have the consultations virtually over the phone.

We are now authorised to give the COVID19 Pfizer vaccinations at our clinic to our enrolled patients. Please book with reception prior to walking in.

We can also do COVID-19 swab tests at our clinic if you are registered with us. Please book an appointment with the receptionist prior.

We will be introducing a new health portal starting early next year to enable you to see your blood test results and also be able to request regular prescription items online.
